Well, I neglected to post my Monday Progress Report for Mega Memory Month! Thanks, Ruth, for the nudge :o) Honestly, I did not spend much time last week on my memory work, but fortunately I only lacked three verses to have the entire Psalm memorized.

So without further ado, here is Psalm 91, typed from memory:


He that dwelleth in the secret place of the most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty.

I will say of the LORD, he is my refuge and my fortress: my God, in him will I trust.

Surely he shall deliver thee from the snare of the fowler, and from the noisome pestilence.

He shall cover thee with his feathers, and under his wings shalt thou trust: his truth shall be thy shield and buckler.

Thou shalt not be afraid for the terror by night; nor for the arrow that flieth by day;

Nor for the pestilence that walketh in darkness; nor for the destruction that wasteth at noonday.

A thousand shall fall at thy side, and ten thousand at thy right hand: but it shall not come nigh thee.

Only with thine eyes shalt thou behold and see the reward of the wicked.

Because thou hast made the LORD, which is my refuge, even the most High, thy habitation: there shall no evil befall thee; neither shall any plague come nigh thy dwelling.

For he shall give his angels charge over thee, to keep thee in all thy ways.

They shall bear thee up in their hands, lest thou dash thy foot against a stone.

Thou shalt tread upon the lion and adder: the young lion and the dragon shalt thou trample under feet.

Because he hath set his love upon me, I will deliver him: I will set him on high because he hath known my name.

He shall call upon me, and I will answer him: I will be with him in trouble; I will deliver him and honor him.

With long life will I satisfy him, and shew him my salvation.

I have made some progress in memorizing Psalm 91 this past week. I think my punctuation has improved somewhat... maybe... a little?

For me, there are two keys to memorizing Scripture: 1) Reading it slowly at first, absorbing the meaning of each word, and thus recording the details in my mind, and 2) Reading the whole passage often, so that it all flows together and I don't get stuck.

Here is what I have memorized so far, typing from memory:

I am halfway done memorizing Psalm 91! My hubby and my oldest girl Jessica have helped by checking me. I will type verses 1-8 by memory here.

The Lord has really blessed my efforts to memorize His word, and shown me truths that I didn't notice before, because I am meditating on it. I have also learned that it is best to memorize Scripture in the morning, when my mind is fresh and uncluttered.

Well, it is over at Ann Kroeker's blog anyway, and I think she has a good thing going! I'm thinking now is as good a time as any to memorize another large portion of scripture, so I am jumping in.
