This is not the first time I have dreamed of the last days. I believe they are coming (because I believe the Bible), and perhaps we are raising the last generation of Christians. How will we prepare them for the days to come? We must teach them to love Christ above all, to cling to Him when it has become dangerous to their person to do so. We much teach them to walk closely with the Lord. He will be their Guide and their Comfort in times of difficulty and distress. If we would have them stand and not fall, we must pray for them as the Lord Jesus prayed for us. We must train their minds and bodies to endure temptation and hold tenaciously to that which is right. we must teach them to be wise as serpents but harmless as doves. The day may come when the Gospel must be given out in secrecy where you are. (But given out, it shall be!) Will they be wise enough to find ways to accomplish the great commission when evil forces make it (almost) impossible?

Fellow missionaries, think not that you shall always be free to serve where you are. Think not that you have much time to accomplish His will for the people you serve. The world's climate continues to change, and being a carrier of the Gospel will not always be so easy or so popular. Watchman! what of the night? What is the state of your people? Are you preparing them for the judgment to come? Or will their blood be upon your hands?

Are your lamps trimmed and ready? The Bridegroom cometh! He does not come at a time that we think He will. We must watch and be ready at any time.

Fear not the persecution of the Church. History has borne out that the suffering of the saints is the seed of the Gospel, and the true Church will live on. Despise the facade of "religion" that only serves to temporarily soothe the conscience and lull people to sleep. But cling to Christ! Be faithful to the end. Read and memorize the Word, and learn Who will be victorious in the end.

Today two little ladies came to my door for a visit, and wanted to give me a tract. They called themselves Jehovah's Witnesses. I was not feeling well but I wanted to talk to these women, and we struck up a conversation.

Indicating their tract with a beautiful portrayal of an earthly paradise, they asked me if I would like to live in a place like that. I told them that the Lord promised me that He is preparing a place for me (John 14), and it is not here on the earth!

I asked them who Jesus is, and of course they told me that he was the Son of God (which is only half of the truth). I told them that Jesus is God in the flesh (Emmanuel - God with us), which is why He allowed people to worship Him.

I pointed out some differences in their "Nuevo Mundo" version from my older, reliable version of the Spanish Bible. Is it not strange that the Watchtower needed to create its own version in order to accommodate its doctrines? Dangerous stuff.

I could not keep them at my door much longer, but as I shared the truth, I looked them in the eye and spoke firmly but compassionately. I pray that something I said planted a seed of truth in their hearts that will lead them out of this dangerous and powerful organization.

We are called to bear the gospel to the lost in Guatemala. Some of them happen to be Jehovah's Witnesses, and they need to know the Jesus of the Bible, too!

The season is changing here, and the skies are starting to cloud up in the afternoons. The rainy season does not officially begin until May, but we've had sporadic sprinkles here and there since late March. One woman told me these little rains in the beginning are "for the planters". I guess it cools them off as they labor into the warmer afternoon hours!

One of the neighbor boys came by this afternoon, asking to borrow a bike to run to the store up the road. He has asked to borrow the bike before, and I was faced with a dilemma then that had vaguely been in the back of my mind. I had to decide - do I loan things to the neighbor children? If I do, they will surely be back again and again, perhaps bringing more friends with them each time. Things might wear out or get broken, or "lost"... I found a passage of Scripture that removed all doubts for me. "Give to him that asketh thee, and from him that would borrow of thee turn not thou away." (Matthew 5:42)

When he brought the bike back, I had some colorful tracts for him to take back to his mama. I hope she can read Spanish!

Daniel's mom, Wanda, called me today and told me about something very thought-provoking. Last week she and Daniel were working out at her back fence. Daniel had some good, godly music playing in the vehicle as they loaded it with some stuff to haul off. An elderly neighbor lady came out of her house, and approached them. They struck up a conversation, and Daniel started talking to her about the Lord, and showed her the truth about what happens after we die. Before long, he held her little hands in his, and prayed with her. She thanked him, and went back inside.

That was last week. This week she passed away.

We just never know who we are talking to, and when they are going to leave this life!

Whereas ye know not what shall be on the morrow. For what is your life? It is even a vapour, that appeareth for a little time, and then vanisheth away. For that ye ought to say, If the Lord will, we shall live, and do this, or that. (James 4:14,15)
