Old Paths

"Thus saith the LORD, Stand ye in the ways, and see, and ask for the {old paths}, where is the good way, and walk therein, and ye shall find rest for your souls." Jeremiah 6:16

I love this verse! I've heard so many wonderful sermons about seeking the old paths, and it has been my desire to do that. Go back, go back, because we have gone astray from the paths God would have us to walk!

Have you ever thought about what exactly the old paths are? We tend to think about the great revivals of the 1800's and early 1900's. But the old paths are older than that. Older than our grandparents and great-grandparents. Older than anything invented since the time of Jesus, yea, they are even older than that, because they were well-established before the time when He walked on the earth. Keep going back, to the time of Jeremiah, who wrote these lines. But these paths were ancient to him, too! What are the "old paths", then?

You'll get it from the context..

So true! The paths are older than the old revivals preachers talk about. However, what a country we would have if we could only get back to those revival times! Then keep moving our ideas backward towards the Bible from there.

Oh, my dear Sis. Tammy, just one minute before I came to see what you recently have posted, I was thanking our Lord Jesus Christ for the old paths. Then, the first thing I read on your blog was "Old Paths"
How exciting! Praise the Lord!
What a blessing! What a joy!

Very precious thoughts!

I also love Tammy's comment about moving our ideas *backward* towards the Bible time.

It's like we need to keep rejecting modern thoughts and modern ideas that will take us off that narrow road.

Blessings
Mrs. White
