We interrupt this usually tranquil blog...

to address an earth-shattering issue which my friend Connie brought to my attention. Perhaps you have already heard about it? President Obama has heartlessly and needlessly murdered an innocent little fly!

I don't usually address political issues on this blog, but this spills over into moral issues. Connie emailed me a link to THIS ARTICLE, and if it weren't for the source, I would have thought it was a joke. I quote, with my notes in {brackets}:

WASHINGTON (AP) -- The group People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals {that's PETTY, er, PETA} wants the flyswatter in chief to try taking a more humane attitude the next time he's bedeviled by a fly in the White House.

PETA is sending President Barack Obama a Katcha Bug Humane Bug Catcher, a device that allows users to trap a house fly and then release it outside.

{So it can fly back into your house, I presume.}

"We support compassion even for the most curious, smallest and least sympathetic animals," PETA spokesman Bruce Friedrich said Wednesday. "We believe that people, where they can be compassionate, should be, for all animals."

{Do flies also have the "right" to land on my food and contaminate it??}

During an interview for CNBC at the White House on Tuesday, a fly intruded on Obama's conversation with correspondent John Harwood.

"Get out of here," the president told the pesky insect. When it didn't, he waited for the fly to settle, put his hand up and then smacked it dead.

{WELL, it disobeyed an executive command.}

"Now, where were we?" Obama asked Harwood. Then he added: "That was pretty impressive, wasn't it? I got the sucker."

{You know, this is the first presidential act since he was elected that I have been able to identify with!}

Friedrich said that PETA was pleased with Obama's voting record in the Senate on behalf of animal rights and noted that he has been outspoken against animal abuses.

Still, "swatting a fly on TV indicates he's not perfect," Friedrich said, "and we're happy to say that we wish he hadn't."

{So PETA now judges who's perfect and who is lacking in their character? Help us!}

Deputy press secretary Josh Earnest said the White House has no comment on the matter.

{I don't blame him. I was speechless at first, too.}

So there you have it. Our president has REALLY blown it, now.

None of that crowd thinks anything of it when the president wants to remove all bars for partial birth abortion and deny parents the right to consent before their adolescent decides to murder her baby. No big deal when he sends funds to the U.N. population agency which in turn helps the Chinese government force abortions and sterilizations onto their people. What? No big headlines protesting his reversal of Bush's executive order to press for research for obtaining embryonic stem cells without harming human life?

The fly is NOTHING. America needs to get her priorities straight. We have more than fly guts on our hands. We have the innocent blood of millions of babies on our hands.

Lord, have mercy!

The Announcement

With the whirl of everything that is going on around here, I've hardly had time to think, much less blog! But in spite of the busyness, I have been taking time to lie down for a nap just about every day. It's necessary. I'm wiped out! After all, I am growing a new little one!

We expect the new arrival sometime in December.

I think this is a good time to also unveil my new blog, Curiously Wrought. I hope you will stop by and bookmark it, if you enjoy pregnant musings and discussion about natural childbirth, homebirth, and waterbirth. All that and probably a lot more will be on my mind in the next several months!

Blessings on you all, and thanks for sharing in our joy!

Recreating the "big bang"

Did you catch this when it was in the news recently? The Large Hadron Collider, a huge $10 billion project, was built deep underground on the Franco-Swiss border. They built the collider hoping to recreate the "Big Bang" and unlock the mysteries of the origin of the universe. It is the work of 2,000 scientists from around the world.

...All this to prove that the universe came into existence by pure chance, without the hand of an intelligent Designer/Creator. Does anyone else see the irony there? ;o)

Congratulations, Bro. Jimmy!

This weekend a very important event took place. Our good friend and brother, Jimmy Frazier, graduated from Bible College! He has worked so hard over the years to support his family, keeping his wife at home and his children getting a Christian education, while he studied. We are very proud of them all, and pray God's blessings on them as they take the next steps in their ministry for Christ.

Bro. Frazier is called to pastor. Please pray for him as he seeks God's will. He will be preaching Sunday at a Baptist church in East Texas, to see if the Lord wants to use him there.

God bless you Bro. Jimmy, Christy, Bridgette, Brian and Caleb. We love you!

What did we expect?

I read an article that said there was a recent study conducted by the Parents Television Council (PTC) entitled The Rap on Rap. I quote...

[The study] examined music videos on BET and MTV during afternoon and early evening hours, when many children are at home after school....PTC found more than 1,300 instances of offensive content in a mere 14 hours of programming in March, primarily in the form of sexually-charged images, explicit language, violence, drug use and sales, and other illegal activity...."Being in the trenches fighting for better indecency enforcement and cable choice on behalf of millions of American families, we thought we'd seen it all," (PTC president) Winter lamented, "but even we were taken aback by what we found in the music video programs on MTV and BET that are targeted directly at impressionable children."

I have two questions: 1) Why should we be "taken aback" when ungodly people put out ungodly programming? and 2) Since when are BET and MTV channels supposed to be viewed by children at any hour? I appreciate people such as the PTC who try to stand for what is right, but I suppose my theory would leave them without a cause. My theory is this: Children who do not watch television at all will not be exposed to the sex, drugs and violence broadcast there.

Television has little or nothing good to offer Christian families. Why do Christians continue to keep (and actually PAY for) this conduit to pipe filth into their living rooms? The Christian home should be a refuge from the noise and influence of the world. I think Christians should reconsider whether the TV is really necessary, and weigh it against the negative influences it has in their homes. If we were all honest with ourselves, the TV would go out the door.

...How's that for indecency enforcement?

Who do you believe?

Jesus, or Oprah?

In case you haven't seen it yet, here's the video .

Oprah says: "One of the mistakes human beings make is believing that there is only one way....There couldn't possibly be just one way [to God]."

Jesus says: "I am THE WAY, the truth, and the life: NO MAN cometh unto the Father, but by ME."

Oprah believes: "My mind is part of God's. I am very holy."

God says: "For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways." and that we are "all as an unclean thing, and all our righteousnesses are as filthy rags."

Oprah believes: "My salvation comes from me."

God says: "Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved." JESUS CHRIST OF NAZARETH

One viewer asked Oprah how she reconciles these "new" teachings with her Christian beliefs. The truth is, these teachings CAN NOT be reconciled with the teachings of Jesus. You have to make a choice between the two. Consider this warning:

"There shall be false teachers among you, who privily shall bring in damnable heresies, even denying the Lord that bought them...And many shall follow their pernicious ways; by reason of whom the way of truth shall be evil spoken of." II Peter 2:1,2

Make no mistake, folks. There is only one way to Heaven, and that is through Jesus Christ. We are all sinners that must be washed by the blood of Jesus in order to come clean before God. Human love, kindness, intelligence, benevolence, will never be enough to earn a place in Heaven; we must come to God admitting our helpless, sinful state, repenting (turning from) our sins, and accepting the sacrifice Jesus made on our behalf upon the cross!

"Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved." Acts 16:31

News bit...

Perhaps you saw it in the news. I saw it and bookmarked it. It's a good thing I did, because after that, it was gone from the front pages, and you would have to be looking for it to find it.

"It" is an article I read entitled, "Study Finds 1 in 4 US Teens Has a STD". This is a shocking statistic. What is even more shocking is the general reaction to these findings.

Some doctors [no names given] said the numbers might be a reflection of both abstinence-only s-x education and teens' own sense of invulnerabilty.

WHAT??

The overall STD rate among the 838 girls in the study was 26 percent, which translates to more than 3 million girls nationwide, researchers with the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention found. They released the results Tuesday at an STD prevention conference in Chicago.

"Those numbers are certainly alarming," said s-x education expert Nora Gelperin, who works with a teen-written Web site called ******. She said they reflect "the sad state of s-x education in our country."

"S-xuality is still a very taboo subject in our society [oh, REALLY?]," she said. "Teens tell us that they can't make decisions in the dark and that adults aren't properly preparing them to make responsible decisions."

That last phrase is what made the most sense, but not in the way she meant it. Adults aren't properly preparing their teens to make responsible decisions. Children who are not taught Biblical principles are destined to fail in the area of purity.

O that my ways were directed to keep thy statutes! Then shall I not be ashamed, when I have respect unto all thy commandments....Wherewithal shall a young man cleanse his way? by taking heed thereto according to thy word. With my whole heart have I sought thee: O let me not wander from thy commandments. Thy word have I hid in mine heart, that I might not sin against thee. (From Psalm 119)

This article goes on:

"This is pretty shocking," said Dr. Elizabeth Alderman, an adolescent medicine specialist at Montefiore Medical Center's Children's Hospital in New York.
"To talk about abstinence is not a bad thing," but teen girls -- and boys too -- need to be informed about how to protect themselves if they do have s-x, Alderman said.

That kind of reasoning is like telling your child not to smoke, "but just in case you do, here, take this filter. It might protect you from the consequences." Does that not weaken the strength of your wise counsel?

I see two more major problems with the reasoning of the general s-x ed crowd. One, they assume children are not going to resist the tempation to engage in premarital s-x. Two, they only focus on the health-related consequences of premarital s-x, and ignore the moral, emotional, and spiritual consequences. Premarital s-x is still a sin, and God forbids it. And as with any sin, it carries with it certain consequences. Deny yourself the momentary pleasure of the sin, and you also avoid the life-long consequences. Teach your children this, and you will indeed be "preparing them to make responsible decisions."
