Wash Day

For all the convenience of a modern washing machine, sometimes a little girl just needs to do it the old-fashioned way...

(Her scrub board is my cutting board.)

Johanna can't reach the clothesline, so her big sisters did that part of the job.

Fresh, clean dolly laundry!

What a sweet post! My nine year old loves her dolls and she is very imaginative, but we've never thought of letting her launder the clothes herself. As soon as our weather warms up, we'll have to give it a try. I love your blog, by the way, I read it often. I have really enjoyed your modesty posts.

This is just adorable. I love to see little ones hard at "work."

About 4 1/2 years ago, we had a terribly bad hurricane hit here on our part of the Gulf coast. Power was out for over 2 weeks. I was 3 weeks from delivering our second child and my belly was huge! I got a taste of laundry in the olden days. We were totally out of clothes to wear and I got out the washtub. It was back-breaking work. Washing my husband's jeans was the hardest. When they were wet, I could barely lift them to the clothesline. Thank God for modern conveniences!
